Summer Contest

Attention All Creative Writers!

It’s time for the 9th Annual RRC Summer Book Contest 2023! Official contest launch is May 1. This year’s theme is to write an Underdog Story ! Using this specific kit from Lulu, Jr., write and illustrate an original story about a character who faces adversity and overcomes it. This can be fiction or non-fiction, using people or imaginary characters. See our Website’s Book Contest page for ideas to spur your imagination. Your kit will come with the contest rules, judging rubric, and pages to create your story. Entry Deadline is September 1 (see below for more info). One entry per child only. To enter the contest, be sure to follow all contest rules and requirements. Note the checklist and the judging criteria we use is on our Book Contest page. —available on our web site.

This kit includes:. 18 story pages; a cover page; and 10 washable markers; contest instructions and rules; and your kit’s tracking number (needed for entering). After mailing your completed pages to Lulu Jr., you will receive one hardcover version of your book in 2-3 weeks. Email your Contest Entry information (details in contest rules) by September 1. Winners will be announced via our social media on November 10. To receive free economy shipping on this kit, simply make a note in the ORDER COMMENTS BOX on our shipping page stating, “for Book Contest,” and we will adjust shipping for that item only.
