Civil War Series from Zeezok Publishing
The Civil War had barely begun when Joseph A. Altsheler was born. When his career as a journalist slowed down in the early 20th century, he began a new career as a novelist for young adults, and drew on the events of a young America and his early childhood for inspiration. In this series, republished by Zeezok Publishing, we follow the adventures of Harry Kenton, a southerner caught in the tides of war and his northern cousin, Dick Mason. From battlefronts to life in camp, they struggle on, meeting historical leaders, fighting against each other, and always hoping for a swift end to the conflict. This is a clean, well-written, and very readable series, and definitions of the less-common words are found along the bottom of the pages to help out a young modern reader.
