Presidential Penmanship Programs on CD
These CDs make my list for "nearly perfect" homeschool products. Each CD provides a complete year's worth of handwriting practice for every grade level. You choose the handwriting style - Abeka, Bob Jones, D'Nealian, Italic, or Zaner-Bloser. [Please note that handwriting instruction is not provided.] You print copy worksheets for however many students in your household at whatever grade levels. Your students benefit by copying quotes that reflect the great biblical and moral principles upon which our country was established; material which can serve as historical or character-building lessons or as memory work. Basically, it's a win-win-win situation.
First and second graders just learning manuscript can copy 36 quotes that reflect founding principles and character qualities. Worksheets at this level show the model, then allow the student to copy inside a "hollow" letter, then trace the quote, then write it on their own. Third and fourth graders learning cursive have 108 (three per week) slightly longer quotes from presidents and famous speeches. Worksheets at this level (and higher) show the model and provide space to replicate it. Fifth graders have selected passages from George Washington's Rules of Civility and Decent Behavior; each rule accompanied by a related Scripture verse. Sixth graders have longer presidential quotes and the Gettysburg Address for a "final exam." At the secondary level, there are two series - one for Jr. High and one for Sr. High. Both start with shorter quotes and progress to paragraph length passages. Selections at these levels include the Declaration of Independence, Lincoln's and Reagan's Inaugural Addresses, and the Gettysburg Address. Janice
