Interactive Notebooks: Language Arts
An interactive notebook is a colorful, sometimes 3D, way of taking notes that may involve drawing, doodling & diagrams to help the student retain information in a way that makes sense to them (i.e. lapbooks). Because it is so personalized, students become actively involved in their note taking. It can take as much or as little time as you like. Covered topics vary by grade level and include primarily reading and writing skills, though there are a few spelling and vocabulary topics covered in later grades. Included are lots of usable models. A grading rubric helps teachers and homeschooling parents assess the student's work. You can begin with a spiral notebook, a composition book or a 3-ring binder with loose-leaf paper. Reproducible for one classroom, small group or family.
