How Faith Shaped

These are surprising books to come from a secular publisher. Secular history that ignores (or downplays) the role of the Judeo-Christian worldview of the founding fathers and their society/culture is inaccurate. Yet that's what we're given over and over in this age of political correctness. These are a refreshing change - and at the same time show us how far our culture and society has fallen from our pervasive Judeo-Christian roots. Marked by meticulous research, the author uncovers the extraordinary, practically forgotten history of the foundation and ultimate victory of the "shot heard round the world." His compelling and lively narrative captivates readers and keeps you turning the pages even though you know the ending.

Forged in Faith chronicles the establishment and making of America from the founding of Jamestown in 1607 to the passage of the Declaration of Independence. By the Hand of Providence (George Washington's observation) continues the saga from the American people's first resistance through battle after battle (until the surrender of the British army at Yorktown), sometimes sustained only by their faith and the faith-based leadership of George Washington. These are well-documented non-fiction history books that could provide the foundation for a literature-based high school unit study. I also think they would be an excellent high school complement to the Take a Stand (early) American history course. 260 pgs, pb. ~ Janice
