Description
The Common Core Math Standards can seem to be an impenetrable mystery. Designed as a resource for teachers and principals, this book does a great job of explaining the Standards as well as offering specific approaches for teaching them. An invaluable Quick Reference Guide gives a CCSS overview. The book is divided into Parts that outline each of the CCSS Domains for the specified grade levels. (ex. Grades 3-5: Operations/Algebraic Thinking; Number/Operations in Base Ten; Number /Operations – Fractions; Measurement/Data; and Geometry). Each Part provides a Domain Overview, Suggested Materials, and Key Vocabulary then gets very specific about each Domain Cluster (group of skills) giving examples of what the teacher does and what to expect the student to do. Included are sample planning pages which include suggestions for differentiating instruction.
