Publisher's Description of God's Great Covenant: New Testament Book 2

The Bible tells us God's story. It has many parts, but from beginning to end it is one story with a promise throughout: "I will be your God, and you will be My people." Through this story, we learn who God is, who mankind is, how the world came to be, and how God worked through history to bring redemption to His people. The God's Great Covenant series will narrate this story for your student in an engaging and unique way.

In God's Great Covenant New Testament 2: Acts, the four Gospels reveal that Jesus is the Messiah and King, God's Servant, the Son of God, and the Son of Man. The book of Acts, written by Luke, shows us that the ministry of Jesus Christ has continued and even grown after His resurrection and His ascension into heaven. The book of Acts can be thought of as the "acts of the apostles," but also as the continuing "acts of Jesus" working through the apostles and the first Christians. A study of the book of Acts reveals a remarkable adventure as Jesus Christ establishes His Church by means of the apostles and early Christians, who are empowered by the Holy Spirit.

This student edition contains 32 weekly chapters divided into 5 themed units. Each week students will encounter the story of that week's Bible verses, presented at a clear, elementary reading level. Every chapter contains a memory page that includes a Bible verse, key facts chart, and a segment titled "The Old Testament in the New Testament Revealed," which encourages students and parents to discuss crossovers from Old Testament scriptures. "Unpack It Further" sections prompt students to think critically about the lesson and answer thought-provoking questions. Unit reviews contain a memory passage worksheet, a devotional guide, and a fun Truth Detectives dialogue.

United Themes Presented in God's Great Covenant New Testament 2: Acts

Unit I: The Gospel Adventure—The Mission. Before He descended to heaven, Jesus gave His disciples a mission, saying, "You will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." Jesus entrusted these faithful believers with the mission of spreading the gospel to the whole word.

Unit II: The Gospel Adventure—Our Guide. The apostles and those who believed through them had a mission: to take the gospel into the whole world. But these men and women needed a guide for their mission: the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit guided their words so that they spoke God's truth boldly and their steps so that they could know where to go and to whom they should speak.

Unit III: The Gospel Adventure—The Map. The disciples of Jesus had a mission (to preach the gospel), a guide (the Holy Spirit), and also a map—God's word through the Old Testament and Jesus' commands. This map not only told them where to go, but also who they were as believers and what to say to those who weren't.

Unit IV: The Gospel Adventure—The Enemy. While carrying out the Lord's command, Paul faced many enemies. The Holy Spirit was guiding Paul, but the enemies of the gospel were strong. God used Paul, His messengers, and His gospel in the midst of the most harmful situations. Nothing stopped God's plan.

Unit V: The Gospel Adventure—Travel Gear. Paul was prepared for anything because he had the proper travel gear: the armor of God. Using the armor of a Roman soldier as an example, Paul identified each piece of armor as something that protected him from his enemies or served as a weapon against the lies of the enemy or his own personal doubts.

This curriculum uses stories found in the Bible to reveal the faithfulness of God to elementary students. There are four titles in the series, two on the Old Testament and two on the New Testament. Each course is designed to take one year to complete at the elementary level. Bible excerpts are taken from the NIV version.

Components include the Teacher's Edition, which offers teacher's notes and answers, and the consumable (non-reproducible) Student Book Numerous supplements are available to enrich these Biblical studies. These are optional, but available to help your family be successful in the study of God's Word.
