Description

There are many tales of bravery and chivalry, of battles and adventures surrounding King Arthur and his knights. One such tales is of Sir Gareth of Orkney, retold here as the Kitchen Knight. An unknown young man turns up at King Arthur's court with three requests; the first is for food and shelter for a year, at the end of which the two other requests will be asked. These last two requests find him on an adventure to rescue a proud lady's sister from the most fearsome and perilous knight alive. How does he handle himself in battle? How does he handle himself under the scorn of the proud lady? How does he handle himself in the final big test? The full-page illustrations are bright and colorful, and the language goes well with the genre of the story. Pb, 32 pgs. ~ Zach
