The Teacher’s Manual contains the actual lesson plans and information vital to the effective presentation of math concepts. The consumable Meeting Books are used during the teacher-student “meeting” in which concepts are introduced, demonstrated and practiced. If teaching more than one student at the same level, you will only need one meeting book. Consumable Student Workbooks are used in grades 1-3 only and contain student materials, flash cards and practice pages. The Math K Home Study Kit contains teacher edition and meeting book. Math 1, 2, and 3 kits contain teacher edition, meeting book, and a set of 2 workbooks. Manipulatives are a vital, integral part of the program; these are not included in the Home Study Kits, but are available through us also.

I'm glad I bought these. I wasn't sure how needed or useful they would be with the Saxon Math curriculum, but we use them a lot in the Kindergarten program. We graph, count, sort, line up, and do creative play with them. I checked other websites, and Rainbow Resource has a competitive price.

These bears have been surprisingly versatile. I expected to only use them when Saxon Math actually called for them, but they have proven to be much more useful. Sometimes a lesson will want action figures, and I just use these. They work perfectly for 'stand-ins' when we are trying to visualize things... they keep the two-year-old busy sorting into cups... they are small enough to use right on the lesson without taking up the whole table, but large enough to manipulate (my daughter bites her nails, and has trouble picking up the colored disks, which lay flat on the table). Definitely worth the money to get the bigger set, since once they are spread on the table, everyone wants to use them! Plus, the occasional casualty to the dog isn't that crucial last red bear that you need for the lesson.
