Struggling with Bible study or devotions at your house? Over the years we’ve tried a variety of approaches from several different publishers, from felt scene stories to just using the Bible. Studying God’s Word, from Christian Liberty Press, takes the workbook approach. Books for Kindergarten and 1st grade cover basic doctrine. Beginning in 2nd grade, the student studies the main events in the Old Testament, with an emphasis on the application of God’s Word to his life. The 3rd grade course concentrates on the life of Christ. Grades 4 through 7 provide a chronological study of the Bible. Grade 4 covers Genesis to Ruth, and grade 5 completes the Old Testament. In grade 6, the student studies the gospels, while grade 7 covers the Book of Acts. In these lessons, background information and an outline of the Bible chapters are listed. A timeline is provided to put the lesson in perspective, as well as giving the important events of that time period. Review questions are given at the end of each lesson to make sure that the main points have soaked in. All in all, Studying God’s Word is a solid yet inexpensive Bible course that can be easily implemented.

I love this series! Our family has used it for course work in the older grades and for family worship in the younger levels.

Of this series, Book H was my younger son's favorite title. He loved the logic puzzles included in many of the lessons. At this level the publisher really asks the student to think. If you want your children to know Bible content, this is the series for you.

Teresa D. from Round Rock, Texas wrote the following on 10/25/2007:
This book is set up to do once a day, five days a week, for less than 10 minutes. Each unit is five short lessons. I initially stuck to that and had mixed feelings about the book. But once I began doing it three times a week, I decided I really like it. Day one takes about 40 seconds, so we usually do 'two' days. Some days I look up the verses, and don't see any connection to what they are trying to teach and what the verses say, so we just skip it. Some days are fill in the blanks. All in all, I really enjoy this book since I gave myself permission to alter the proposed plan to fit our family's needs!

Victoria I. from Ramstein AFB, Germany wrote the following on 06/29/2008:
I use these books for reading comprehension. There is no better way to learn how to read and understand than to use God's Word. This series is easy to use, yet it is incredibly detailed. My oldest has learned in depth facts about Biblical characters and events that are otherwise not covered in conventional ways such as Sunday School and Bible memory programs. We will use these for all of our children until we finish the series with each of them.

Amy M. from WI wrote the following on 04/29/2009:
I found this curriculum VERY easy to use. The five day format really helped to keep us on track. I have a 1st and 3rd grader so I used Book C which was pretty much between their grade levels, and it worked out extremely well. I think that it has a great variety of Bible reading, worksheets and hands on activities all combined to keep the children's attention and keep them learning from God's Word. Love it!
