The Reason for Writing series (i.e., God Made My World, Words of Praise, etc.) has been replaced with this series. But don’t worry; there are few changes from the originals. The most significant change is that the new ones are in color, making them more appealing. In the more advanced levels, discussion questions accompany the weekly Bible verse. Also, each level is now given a letter designation, with a whole book for transition from manuscript to cursive in between B and C. Starting in Book C, all handwriting is cursive. These books have slightly fewer lessons; the old series contained 36 lessons, while these books vary from 27 to 32 (with 49 in K). One more change to note is the height of the lines; instead of the lines getting smaller in the first cursive book, they shrink in the middle of the transition book. The manuscript and cursive border sheets are also revised, and are now included with the workbooks. These nicely bordered lined papers challenge students to write their scripture verses on them “in their best handwriting.” The student desk card shows manuscript and cursive letters on a personal-sized card, or you can put the big letters up on the wall using the alphabet wall sheets. One comprehensive teacher’s guide covers the whole series. ~ Melissa

I am currently using this with my 3rd grader. We completely skipped the first section of the book where they review print. I love the Bible verses, etc. I never use the Teachers Manual. I originally chose this cursive program because I liked the fact that they include the print letter so that the child can learn the matching cursive letters.

We used the Transition book with our daughter last year in the second grade, and have been with this program for two years. It is a wonderful handwriting program for so many reasons. Our children love finishing the week with a completed Bible verse on a coloring page they get to decorate. They try harder to write well because they know we will display their work. The book also encourages them to give these pages with Bible verses to family and friends (Yeah!). The transition to cursive in this book was great. Their writing is much improved since starting this program and it is very easy to teach.

I was amazed by the progression my daughter made this year in her handwriting. She has gotten several comments on how nice her handwriting is, and this was not the case several months ago! She finished this program in one semester, often trying to work ahead of daily assignments! One page a day is just right and prevented her from being overwhelmed. Letter formation is illustrated with arrows as your child progresses from tracing to writing letters and words on his/her own. The book progresses from teaching how to properly right each letter of the alphabet, words, then complete Bible verses that are copied onto frame-able sheets they can color for display. I will use it again next year.

My 5-year-old daughter loves this handwriting program! Handwriting is now usually the first thing she wants to do each day. When she first started writing, we were using a different program and she found it boring and frustrating. "A Reason for Handwriting" holds her attention, and keeps her focused on God's word, in addition to helping her improve her handwriting. She is so proud of her finished border pages each week and loves giving them away to friends and family as gifts.

I am so excited about this set of handwriting workbooks! So far we have only used kindergarten (K). My daughter learned a lot from them this year, from the correct formation of letters to letter sounds to various kinds of animals. We were even able to use this as a jumping off point to study various kinds of animals. After the P page which has a picture of a penguin on the back we dove into a study of penguins, looking on the internet for what type of food they eat, checking out books from the library, and finally taking a trip to the Zoo. The treehouse graphic was very helpful too. I can't wait to start the first grade book, my plan is to use the scripture verses as our memory verse as well.

I Love This Series of Workbooks!
Wonderfully simple to use, produces excellent penmanship. The lessons are easy to follow, just enough for daily use, not long enough to tire the student. My kindergarten students couldn't wait until they could color a border to send their writing to someone special, like their older siblings. I like that they work to produce something pretty, not just to "do their handwriting."

My boys LOVE this series! We finished level K last year and just received level A. I like that they are practicing writing Bible verses, not just words. I hadn't realized or read anywhere that level A handwriting and level A spelling seem to go hand in hand. I was even more impressed with this program! The verse that the children are writing each week has a theme story that goes along with it in the teacher's edition of A Reason for Spelling. There are also questions to get the kids thinking about the verse they are writing (that is, if you are using both programs!), so it is easy to also turn these programs into a devotional and apply it to their lives. If all the levels go hand in hand like that, we're definitely looking forward to using the other levels in the future. I think the whole family will be blessed by this series!

Our daughter loves this program. We use the border sheets at the end of the week to choose a special person to send out handwriting to. We keep a few for referral at the end of the year but most of the time we find great people to send these verses to. We have taken memory verses we want to pay special attention to and written each word on index cards. Taking the scrambled cards she loves to put them in the right order. We will be continuing on with the handwriting program.
Thanks for a great product.

I have used several of the "Reason for Handwriting" books with my children. They love the simple layout and I love the Scriptures taught through writing. None of my children have ever complained about doing handwriting while using these simple yet colorful and fun books.
