First I would like to say that I LOVE the Key to__ series. We used the Key to Fractions the past school year for my 12 year old son. He always did ok in math, but he needed a little help on fractions. For a mom that is not too great in math, I liked that the books were easy to understand. He just read the directions and went about his work needing little help from me. There is no preparation to use the books. Just open the workbook, read the short directions and begin! I ordered the complete set and I did enjoy having the answer booklet for fast checking. I have the Key to Percents we will start our year off with and then I plan on using the Key to Algebra as soon as we complete the percent booklets. I would highly recommend the Key to books!

I love the Key to.. program. I had a math student that was struggling so much in algebra that I ended up making him do the decimals, fractions and percents books in this program as well as the first book of the algebra program. While he still struggles in math, he is way better now than he was and we have finally started our algebra program back up again. I love how these books take you step by step. Most math books show you how to work a whole problem all at one time, but not this one. It has you work things little by little. It really is amazing how a student who was once petrified when confronted with fractions, decimals and percents can work them with confidence now. Also the one book we worked from the algebra series really helped his skills in working with negatives and positives. I highly recommend them.

My daughter is very good in math, but has never really liked it. Every day, she would fight about having to do her math work. Toward the end of her third grade year I was looking for materials for 4th grade. I found the Key To... Series and decided to try it. I bought the complete set. As soon as it was delivered, she asked if she could stop doing the math she had been doing & use Key To instead. In the last month or so of third grade, she did the first workbook in Decimals & the first in Fractions. She's now almost done with fourth grade. She has finished Percents, Decimals, and Fractions, and by the end of the school year will have also completed Measurement & Metric Measurement.
The geometry isn't a complete high school level geometry. It's more of an introduction, something to prepare them for going into a full geometry course. Due to this, we've decided that we'll be using something else for the higher Math courses. So, she will not be using the Key To Algebra or Geometry. She took the placement test for a pre-algebra course and got almost every answer correct! She will be doing a full pre-algebra course at age 10. This is due in large part to using the Key To... Series. Math still isn't her favorite subject, but she no longer despises it. She doesn't fight about doing Math near as often as she used to. She has severe ADHD, so finding materials that work for her has been difficult. This program worked for her. It's very step-by-step and self-instructional. It doesn't have colorful pictures to distract her. It's one of the few things she can work on independently. We have truly enjoyed this program and would recommend it to anyone who wants their child to work at their own pace.

My 13 year old son is bright but has multiple learning disabilities, so some math programs can be daunting for him in terms of their teaching methods, order of presentation, complexity and -- let's face it -- fluff! The Key to . . . Series has been GREAT! The Series breaks each math discipline down to the basics and presents the concepts one at a time in a clear, straightforward manner with plenty of drill on each concept before moving on to the next. The drills can all be done or some can be skipped, as needed. Although this series is, I believe, designed as a supplement, my son uses this series as his sole math curriculum and has worked in the books on Percents, Fractions, Decimals, Algebra and Geometry. He is currently working his way through the Key to Algebra books and is gaining an excellent understanding of Algebra! We are so thankful to have found a math curriculum that works for him!
