A Simply Grammar-like course for a younger child, again following the Charlotte Mason approach. It contains everything you need for language arts - wholesome classic literature excerpts, narration, dictation, memorization, and composition. Lessons are self-contained and the book is very easy to use with short, manageable exercises and assignments. Like Simply Grammar, this volume is also a revision of an older book, complete with quaint, but stimulating, period illustrations.

Customer Review
Shannon R. from Vallejo, CA wrote the following on 11/20/2008:
I got this inexpensive language arts curriculum on suggestion of Susan Wise Bauer's "A Well-Trained Mind." I am so impressed. The lessons go right along with teaching in a Charlotte Mason or Classical Education style. The lessons are short and sweet and bring in many different areas from which to work: copywork, sentence structure, punctuation, picture study, and beginning grammar to name a few. The lessons are simple enough to keep the attention span of a second grader, yet thorough enough to get the point across. Each lesson is followed by one or more exercises to enforce what is learned. The only preparation needed is to open the book, which helps when advanced preparation is needed for many other areas of school. I am very pleased with this well thought out, easy to use book and look forward to book 2.
