Color the Classics Composers II Book and CD
As an introduction to the world of fine, God-honoring music, this is a wonderful series. With short, funny, interesting biographies of each featured composer, these go a long way to sparking interest for study. Understanding the history and the difficult conditions behind such works as Handel’s Water Music Suite and Fanny Crosby’s To God Be The Glory brings the music alive. Audios include a sampling of each composers’ works, and books include wonderful pictures for coloring as well as biographies and a list of recommended reading (for those so engrossed by the stories they need to learn more!). The book and CD are included in the sets or you can get the books separately in case you have more than one student. A few Combo Sets are available, which are great if you are interested in more than one set. These Combo Sets each include two of the normal sets; they include two different books and then just one CD, but the CD includes absolutely everything from the two CDs in the normal sets. ~ Genevieve

Color the Classics has been a wonderful addition to our study of Classical Composers. Each book brings to life the lives of four different composers. Approximately 6-7 illustrations are given for each composer with wonderful, memorable stories to go along with each picture. I played the CD softly in the background as the children colored their pictures and I told the story to go along with the illustration. I think that this program is a wonderful and painless way to introduce your children to classical composers, especially since preparation on the parent's part is minimal and knowledge of composers in not necessary. I have used this program with four sons, ranging from ages 5-12 and each boy still remembers the stories that go with each illustration as they review them in their portfolio. This program is appealing to all learning styles as it nicely incorporates visual, auditory, and kinesthetic elements in a nice package. It has been a pleasure to use in our family. We did supplement the program with CD's of each individual composer giving the children a wider selection of famous compositions. I would definitely recommend Color the Classics as a painless and enjoyable way to delve into the world of classical composers.

We love the Color the Classics series! All the background information you need is right in the lesson. We discuss the composer and then play their song(s) while coloring the illustration. We have also used paint, colored pencils, chalk and other mediums to complete the illustrations. After we have studied a composer, we make a book of the illustrations and add key points from the composer's life. My children love looking back on their art work!
