By the Shores of Silver Lake (Full Color)
The Ingalls are moving again! They have been through some difficult times for the farm and for the family, physically and financially, but now Pa has a wonderful offer out west, which he accepts. Pa heads out to the wilderness of the Dakota Territory, and the rest of the family follows a couple of months later. They become the first settlers in the new town of De Smet and Pa begins building in another new town on the shores of Silver Lake, but ultimately they are waiting until Pa finds the perfect homestead.

Customer Review
Holly S. from Oklahoma wrote the following on 07/10/2006:
My mother, too, read these books to me several times, starting when I was five years old. She only read the books where Laura is younger (not The Long Winter, or These Happy Golden Years). After our third round, I started reading them all over again myself, several times - ALL of them, and as many more about her that I could find. As an adult, I have even read them all a few more times, admiring the adults of the series more.
My own set is now quite worn, and my own daughter is about to turn five. I'm ordering this set for her/us, and hope she will love and learn from them as much as I have.
...We who love the books generally despise the TV versions. My wish is that those who dislike the TV version but have never read the books would try the books. They are very different!
(I also HIGHLY recommend The Little House Cookbook, even if you don't want to actually cook anything. It is full of interesting food history.)
