This book includes three Greek tragedies by Aeschylus, translated beautifully by Richmond Lattimore, with an extensive 30 page introduction about the author and a summary and analysis of the stories. The tragedies include Agamemnon, The Libation Bearers and The Eumenides. In play format, these tragedies tell about some main figures involved in the battle of Troy and what their lives looked like directly after the fall of Troy. This translation is praised as the most poetic and modern, and the language is very easy to read, making the plays understandable. A list of characters is given before each play, and every fifth line is numbered for easy reference and group reading. The cover of the book displays a reproduction of a famous painting entitled Agamemnon Sends His Message to Achilles, which is beautifully portrayed but shows a naked man in the background. No illustrations are included inside the book. 172 pgs, pb. ~ Rachel
