Although millions of people have followed Jorge Cruise's 8 Minutes in the Morning program and have achieved terrific results, people have continually asked him for advice on targeting a "problem" area - their belly. Seeing the need for a workout program similar to his others that focuses particularly on the abdominals, Jorge has put together this program, testing it on hundreds of his clients and listened to their feedback. Like his other programs, this one emphasizes healthy eating and a positive mindset in addition to regular exercising. If you're not familiar at all with the regular 8 Minutes in the Morning program, don't worry - you don't need to know anything else besides what's in this book to tone your tummy. The first part of the book discusses belly fat, its dangers, and explains how the program will shed belly fat. There's also a lot of motivational encouragement and advice on how to stick with the program and a sensible diet. Part two introduces the moves used in the program, discusses the structure and position of the abdominal muscles, and explains exactly how the exercises featured in the program build muscle and fight fat. Jorge also discusses diet in this section and offers plenty of advice on how to eat more healthily, how to avoid fat traps, how to distinguish between eating for hunger and eating for emotional fulfillment. Suggested meals and foods are also discussed. The third part of the book contains the workout program itself. It includes three different levels of 8-minute workouts, one for each day of the week and some suggested activities for the weekend as well. The first level is the easiest and lowest-impact, and is designed for individuals who rarely, if ever, have worked their abdominal muscles. The exercises in Level 2 and Level 3 increase in intensity and difficulty. The abdominals are worked on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays (to give them a rest between workouts), while Tuesday and Thursday workouts focus on the upper and lower body. There are four exercises given for each day. Each exercise should be done for one minute, and then each one repeated again for a total of 8 minutes. Warm-up and cool-down exercises are also suggested - but the entire workout shouldn't take more than ten minutes. By the way, if you hate crunches, don't worry - there are absolutely no crunches here. Jorge suggests following each level's program for 3 weeks, and then moving on to the next level. If you follow the program regularly and eat reasonably, he guarantees that you will be able to lose up to 6 inches in the first four weeks of the program. All in all, there are no hidden tricks or time-consuming requirements here. His program is based on solid research, and common sense. It's also obvious from the tone of his books that Jorge wants people to succeed, and he offers a lot of encouragement and motivation along the way.
