The title of this book describes the contents pretty well - it’s basically a list of activities that every kid should do before they’re twelve years old. A wide range of ideas is given and kids will certainly be well-rounded if they complete them all. For the most part, the activities are all simple things kids can do at home without much help from parents. A few of them would require a road trip or parental guidance, but for the most part, they’re just good ideas kids can do whenever they’re bored. For each idea, the book lists resources you can use and tips for getting the most out of the experience. Ideas include things like: celebrate a holiday you don’t usually celebrate, sleep under the stars, go to a powwow, walk a swinging bridge, catch a train, read a classic, make a time capsule, play in the mud, plan a dream trip, give your room a makeover, plant something and watch it grow, enter a competition, make a movie or put on a show, swim with dolphins, fly a kite, interview an elder, and teach a little kid something you know. Full-color photographs are included to illustrate each activity and fun facts about many of the activities are included. Also included in the book are more than 150 colorful stickers saying things like “Loved It!”, “Ho Hum,” “Mission Accomplished,” “Way Weird,” and “Top 20!” Once kids have finished an activity in the book, they can put a sticker on that page to keep track of which activities they have completed and how much they enjoyed them.
