Teaching kids and teenagers the importance of staying healthy is vital to lifelong fitness. The exercise and eating habits they develop at this age are likely to affect their health and happiness their whole life. These journals provide an excellent way to teach students the importance of good habits, and they provide space to record daily exercise and food intake. There are daily boxes to fill in for a whole semester, which prompt students to record what they eat, if they drink enough water, how many hours they sleep, if they've fulfilled the food pyramid's daily requirements, if they drank soda, and what kind of exercise they did. The Elementary Journal only has students record this information three days a week, while the other journals have space for every day of the week. While having students record their diet and exercise is a great way for them to spot unhealthy tendencies, space for recording this information is not the only part of these great journals. Health information and plenty of tips on developing a healthy lifestyle are also included to show students how they should adjust their eating and activities. National standards and the President's Challenge (a set of exercises used in many P.E. classes to gauge fitness) are included, along with great info on the benefits of exercising and eating right. There are fitness charts, a food pyramid, and places to develop an overall fitness plan and track goals. Great to use with such books as 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens, each of these journals by Betty Kern, MS, CSCS is fairly similar, they just include charts and info geared toward different age groups. Help your child get on the road to lifelong fitness with these great journals. The Elementary journal has 48 pages, the Middle School version has 80, and the High School version (P.E.) has 92.
