Students’ own art creations serve as original writing prompts in this clever, hands-on activity book. Each project begins with an introduction to the art or writing concept being explored. Simple directions follow for drawing, cutting, painting, gluing, and otherwise designing their own version of the art project. After completing each creation, students use them in conjunction with the writing steps provided to brainstorm and write a paragraph, poem, short story, or other assignment. A few of the assignments work in “reverse” and children write about a memory and experience and then design their project. Examples of students’ projects and their writing selections are featured for each activity, and helpful illustrations guide the project process.
