Here they are – for those of you who want a traditional science course from a secular perspective. These are what students are using in the public schools and are written to meet content standards for each grade level. We get phone calls weekly asking what we have to offer from a secular publisher that still maintains the high-quality standards set forth by homeschool families. Saxon has come through on your behalf.

This curriculum comes from big name publishers like Holt, Houghton Mifflin, and McDougal Littell. All of these are names which set the standard for classroom education, and you can choose to have them in your home. Text books offer bright, beautiful photos and illustrations to hold students interest, and teacher editions and CD-ROMs offer all of the ancillary materials needed to round out each course. These courses are available in packages only.

Houghton Mifflin (HM) packages for grades 1-6 include a student text and teacher edition CD-ROM. The CD-ROM contains book pages for the teacher edition and student edition, assessment resources, a teacher resource book which contains reading skills and chapter concept worksheets, student resources which include worksheets for Investigate & Record, lesson review, writing in science, math skills, unit review, and review and test preparation.

At the high school level a variety of courses have been made available – Holt Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, and Physical Science packages include a student text, teacher edition, and a chapter resources CD-ROM which contains skills worksheets and assessments. In addition, the biology and chemistry courses include a ‘Virtual Investigations’ CD-ROM which includes virtual labs for biology and graphics, animations, movie clips, and demonstrations for chemistry.

The Holt Science & Technology series has 3 separate courses – Life Science, Earth Science, & Physical Science. Each package includes a student text, teacher edition, and a chapter resource CD-ROM containing worksheets and assessments.

Holt Psychology: Principles in Practice package includes a student text, teacher edition, chapter review activities w/ answer key, chapter and unit tests w/ answer key, and readings and case studies in psychology w/ answer keys.

McDougal Littell (ML) Earth Science package includes teacher edition, reading study guide, formal assessment, an eEdition CD-ROM for the student text, and a lab generator CD-ROM.

Homeschool lesson plans are being developed, and we are told they will be ready by fall 2010. When these become available, they will be a free download at saxonhomeschool.com.
