A Great Curriculum
I see my son learning a lot faster. I do do flashcard study now. I also use Dollar Tree addition and subtraction timed test for extra practice. Overall a very good Curriculum.

So far we really like it!
My son is really enjoying this and the repetition of lessons for mastery seems to work a little better for him than primarily spiraling concepts. The page layout has enough color and variation to keep him interested without overwhelming print and graphics, which sometimes makes it hard for him to focus on other workbooks. It is also easy to break up the day's work into smaller chunks. Most importantly he is really cruising along learning first grade math concepts taught in this series and doesn't mind doing it at all, which is great considering he isn't a workbook guy. It is also easy for me to teach the concepts and the teacher instructions are simple and can be modified as needed. I would give it 5 stars but we haven't been doing it very long yet.

Great math that is common core aligned
My daughter did Go Math last year through our hybrid charter and I found it confusing with directions that often weren't very clear. Math Mammoth has simple instructions with clear examples on each page. It's working out great for my 1st grader.

I watched several Youtube homeschool moms' reviews of this curriculum, and I like the way information is presented in Math Mammoth. The author also has several videos on Youtube explaining various math concepts clearly.

I LOVE this program! I have also purchased mathematical reasoning for Grade 1 but it simply does not compare. Math Mammoth has worked well for us and teaches my son that there is more then one way to solve a problem . We will definitely continue with MM as the years go by! Cheers.

"I heard and read a lot of good reviews of Math mammoth through my online searching about what math curriculum for my kids to use. So I am willing to give a try for Math Mammoth Light Blue Series. I actually first heard about these specific Curriculum from HSLDA emails before I went online to investigate. I will update my review later after seeing and use the books. I am excited!!!"

I don't think math has to be complicated at the young levels. I love how the concepts are explained and look forward to seeing my children understand why math is done the way that it is, and how these skills will relate to more advanced math for them in the future.

I've tried Saxon, Math U See and others and non of them really worked for my son one was too busy and the other was to slow and didn't explain the concept enough. A friend shared her experience with me, showed me the layout and gave my son an assessment, I ordered it and can't wait for my son to get started.

Do I need to purchase manipulatives or anything else if I purchase the Grade 1 Set? Does it come with manipulatives?
A shopper
on Jun 2, 2017
BEST ANSWER: All you need is the books. They don't come with manipulatives, but the books are easy enough to do without manipulatives. I have colored counting bears that I use often with the books, which you can buy separately if you need to or want. You could get the books and see what you think. I have the whole set of these books and have found them easy to use, just pick up and go...meaning no prep work ahead of time. I have used them with my children aged 7 through 16. They really do a good job teaching math concepts in a step by step process, so you can teach it to the student, and the student can learn the material on lesson at a time.

No, but I bought most of my manipulative from the Dollar Tree. The flat marbles, rules, rubber bands, measuring cup and paper clips. You can download a free 100's chart from pinterest. The only things I really needed were ruler, marbles and the 100's chart.
