came highly recommended, but I'm finding I'm not following many of the activities suggested as they are not very appealing to my children

We have used and LOVE, LOVE Five in a Row!!!
Sherryl J on Oct 27, 2015
Five in a Row has been recommended by nearly every homeschooling mom I have met. I can't wait to try it. I compared the price here to other places and even buying them used, and I this was the best price.

Are all the books hardcover?
A shopper on Oct 12, 2016
BEST ANSWER: In my set, only Hanna' s Cold Winter, Pumpkin Runner, and Cowboy Charlie are hard cover; the others are paperback.
Does the set come with the guide?
A shopper on May 30, 2016
BEST ANSWER: No it does not. The guide is sold separately. You do not need to buy all of these books if you have access to a good library, but you will love them, so if you can afford them, they are definitely worth the price!
Is volume 4 suitable for my 7 and 10 year old? they are both late bloomers in reading
A shopper on Dec 31, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I used this with my 7 - 8 year old for part of her 2nd grade curriculum. We loved it. The content in volume 4 is a bit more advanced than volumes 1 - 3. Though you could have the student read the books, the curriculum calls for the parent to actually read out loud so your child is not expected to read these books. I definitely think you could use this with a ten year old if you went more in depth with the content (supplementing with library books or other materials, etc) however, as is, it might be a little young for a child that age. I believe it is recommended for around 3rd grade so it wouldn't take too much to make it work for 2nd or 4th graders. Overall I think this would be suitable for those ages.
