Category Description for Summertime Learning

If you're looking for a manageable, inexpensive summer program to get your children ready for the next grade, here it is. Each leveled workbook provides 8 weeks of activities that focus on grade-level standards in reading, writing, math, science, and social studies. As an example, fifth-grade activities include math word problems, chart reading, geometry problems, fractions, arithmetic operations, vocabulary, reading comprehension, paragraph analysis, writing prompts, and much more. Each Friday features a testing page and a Friday Fun activity sheet, which tends to be more critical-thinking oriented than the Mon-Thurs activities. Because the activity pages are laid out by week and labeled with the day they should be done, the workbook is very easy to pick up and use and the reward chart and stickers included will encourage students to stay on track as well. While many other summer workbooks are full-color, these are black-and-white, yet visually appealing. A list of standards covered is found in the front of each workbook and you'll also be pleased to find a suggested bibliography/summer reading list and additional activities and discussion topics in the back of each book. Not reproducible, answer key included. 112 pgs, pb ~ Caryl
