After going around the world in 36 weeks with "Galloping the Globe" our daughter decided she would like to "Canter the Country" to study United States geography/history for third grade To enhance our study of the 50 states we purchased "Eat Your Way Across the USA" which is a compilation of recipes from all 50 states plus the District of Columbia For each state there is a native dish side dish and dessert along with "fun food facts" from the state Our family is looking forward to using this cookbook as we did "Eat Your Way Around the World"

Lots of fun I had never made gumbo before that was interesting The only down side to this is it can be difficult to locate some of the ingredients for those recipes not from your area So a few times I had to improvise on a recipe Over all my kids really enjoyed doing these recipes with me

We spent last summer learning all 50 states, their capitals, and location on the map. To continue our study and refresh their knowledge we thought cooking favorties from each state would add a fun element.
