The Art in History series explores art across the ages. Each book covers the target culture and its artwork though use of descriptive text and large full colored pictures. Among many other things, you will learn how that culture’s art developed, what materials the artists were inclined to use, how changes and inventions of the time affected the art, and the ideas and beliefs that inspired the artists themselves. Although the books are relatively short in length (approximately 30 pages each), they do provide for a good (although brief) general overview. For example, the Ancient Greek book in the series covers such topics as Alexander the Great, city states, the four main periods of Greek art, the Acropolis, the Parthenon, frescos, mosaics, and friezes. ~ Enh
