Description
Whether you're new to singing or experienced, this course will make you a better vocalist. This DVD-ROM contains over 200 lessons by the acclaimed vocal instructor Ory Brown. Twelve chapters cover the following topics: introduction to singing, your body as the instrument, breathing, supporting the voice, resonance, vowels, articulation, vocal onset and offset, legato singing, registers, expression, and sight-reading. The course follows a three step learning process. First, watch the video of the instructor demonstrating the techniques. Next, practice the techniques slowly with vocal exercises. Then, sing along with the piano accompaniments. Over 80 songs in a variety of genres are included: folk, pop, jazz, R & B, opera, classical, and showtunes. The songs have tracks for several voice ranges: male and female, high and low. The lessons and songs feature music notation, and music tracking highlights notes as they're played. My favorite feature is the Interactive Feedback technology, which "listens" to your seeing via computer microphone and lets you know if you are singing flat, sharp, or on pitch, plus shows whether you need to sing higher or lower. Another neat feature is the Performance Evaluation that gives specific feedback based on mistakes and provides an overall score for you after singing a whole song. Several interactive, clickable icon buttons enhance the lessons. These icons include: a movie camera (to watch a video demonstration of the particular technique), a speaker (to listen to full multitrack audio), a singing head (to hear the vocal part only), a piano (to hear the piano part only), and a singing head with a question mark (to hear spoken tips and advice from the instructor). You can also slow the music down with variable-speed MIDI tracks, or highlight selections of the song to repeat on a loop. Other features include ear training quizzes, a metronome, note tracker (shows the note you're singing in music notation), piano accompaniments, and a digital recorder. System requirements: Windows XP/Vista/Windows 7/Windows 8; Mac OS X 10.4 or later. DVD-ROM required for both systems. Internet connection recommended for activation.
