Young Peter Cook is a bound boy belonging to a good master. When his master dies in the black plague, Peter is thrown out of the great house. He meets a group who calls themselves Separatists and journeys with them across the Atlantic to the New World. There Peter befriends Squanto and celebrates the first Thanksgiving.

Peter Cook has a good life as a bound boy by a master who treats him like a son. Everything changes the day that Peter discovers that his master has died of the black plague and he is thrown out of the great house. Peter soon meets a group of people called Separatists—because they have chosen to separate from the established Church of England. Join young Peter and his friends, as they make the long and dangerous trip across the Atlantic Ocean. There they meet the Native American people whom they called Indians.
