Product Description
If you need some help getting organized, but want more flexibility than a standard lesson-plan book provides, read on! This journal combines lesson planner with other helpful forms uniquely suited to homeschooling. Intended as a permanent record, the spiral-bound volume can be filed away with your children’s work as a lasting reference to your school year. The first few pages contain helpful instructions for use and 2-year calendar to aid in planning. A“Linear Schedule of Home Schooling Events” - your year-at-a-glance summary of school-related activities - is followed by a page of yearly requirements like dental exams, test dates, home schooling conventions, etc. A two-sided page for recording by-subject test scores follows. The next several pages are devoted to recording information pertinent to planning field trips, including goals for learning. The heart of the organizer is a generous 200-day daily subject log. Recording boxes are ample and each page helpfully includes a lined, wide “NOTES:” column which allows for detailed recording of particulars on field trips, special activities, journal entries, whatever. At the end of the planner are 13 full pages of library list forms, allowing you to keep a record of books read or books that you hope to locate for use in unit studies. Reasonably priced, this journal could be a wonderful investment in tracking and organizing your school year.

There is a nice half of a sheet for notes for each week too. I tweaked the test score keeper page the same way. The pages at the beginning of the book are set up for five students and there is an instructions page that shows a couple different ways that the book can be used.

5.0 / 5.010 Reviews5 Stars4 Stars3 Stars2 Stars1 Stars100000I've bought this every year for 16 years. This journal has been perfect for keeping track of schooling for 5 children. The boxes are flexible so you can adjust dates to ones you need without skipping pages. You can use the daily boxes for keeping track of each student individually or keeping track of each subject and what each student does in each subject. I have done both ways and it works well either way.

This planner is just perfect. It has plenty of room to keep track of each child's work, there is room in the back for book lists and plenty of room for notes from week to week. I've rejected every other planner I've looked at because none of them are as flexible as this one.- Was this review helpful? Yes (2) No (0)

I LOVE this planner! I've been homeschooling for five years and have used one Home Schooler's Journal every year After lots of searching for the perfect one I found this one and liked the simplicity and the clean pages The daily boxes are large with plenty of room for me to plan out each school week in detail It is exactly what I was hoping to find It is also very affordable I joke with my family that my planner is "my precious" because I love it so much and can't be without it- Was this review helpful? LOVE this product Have used it since my oldest was in Pre-K and he graduated last year! I can keep track of all four of my students in every subject Very flexible since nothing is pre-written You can record by subject or by student or mix the two as I did Love the "Notes" section where I jot down what we did and what life events happened that week -- my joys and my frustrations What a tremendous record to look back on and reminisce!- Was this review helpful? Across the top of each page are columns for subjects. Instead of subjects I wrote a child's name at the top of each column and then wrote the individual subjects in each row in the box under each child's name. There are enough boxes for one week (5 days) of work.
There is a nice half of a sheet for notes for each week too. I tweaked the test score keeper page the same way. The pages at the beginning of the book are set up for five students and there is an instructions page that shows a couple different ways that the book can be used.- Reply

No, I have used it for up to 6 children at a time, this year I used it for 5 students. I write each students name at the top of a column, the date is at the beginning of the row and I use one square for each student. There are 6 columns so I used the last column to write goals in. A use abbreviations so a typical day for a student might read:
M - 45
Sp. - L30
S - finish Unit 10
PE- volleyball Pr.
H - work on report

I only have one child, so I looked at the instructions in the front of the book. It shows that you are able to use it with multiple children if you are using a structured text method. It would be possible if you were using textbooks only and had a brief summary for each child's daily work. But I believe it would be tough to use this with multiple children-your writing would have to be fairly small. I would recommend using one book per child.- Reply

No, you can use this journal for more than one child at a time. There is space in the front to write the names of five children, but I have to admit that I never used it for more than two children at a time, since my children were spaced in age. You would just have to write smaller to fit in each subject box if you are doing more children at a time.- Reply
