Description

Set free your imagination with this creative tale about two friends who find a very mysterious teleporter and build a spaceship to travel into deep space. Eventually, the two space travelers crash land on an alien planet. Through their adventures, the two lead characters battle dark matter, babysitters, aliens and the teleporting microwave, have disagreements, yet remain steadfast friends! The writing style is more of a play format with a narrator, allowing families to share the read aloud experience by assigning roles. Some bold readers may even move to the next level and act out the spirited adventures! This title is an excellent option to engage the middle age kiddo who may be resistant to read aloud time. Black and white illustrations. Softbound. ~Deanne

Publisher's Description of Archer and Zowie

Hans Bluedorn, of The Fallacy Detective, has written again. This time he tackles science fiction, friendship, and outer space. There's stuff in here about dark matter, teleporting microwaves, babysitters, and pastrami sandwiches, too. All with a characteristic, comedy-of-the-absurd, humor.

This is the story of Archer and Zowie: two mismatched kids who build a rocket ship out of a tree house, leave Earth to travel through deep, uncharted space, and promptly crash on a distant planet. The children wander through an alien world searching for their psychotic teleporting microwave, learning about friendship, and trying to get home.

This middle grade novel has the character and practicality of Beverly Cleary's Ramona Quimby books, with the wild imagination of Douglas Adams' Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.

Some other of Hans' inspirations for Archer and Zowie were Bill Watterson's Calvin and Hobbes comics, Madeleine L' Engle's A Wrinkle in Time and C.S. Lewis' Chronicles of Narnia.

Archer and Zowie contains 40 lively illustrations drawn by the author.
