My children are almost finished with level 4 of AAS (the levels do NOT correspond to grades) It has worked extremely well for us It is laid out in small logical chunks with very little teacher preparation needed My children (8 & 9) had done Romalda Spaulding's The Writing Road to Reading last year and my daughter had done Saxon Phonics in 2nd grade This is much easier to teach than the Spaulding method (and teaches similar sounds of the phonograms) and is thorough like the Saxon but not such long lessons Saxon was dreaded by my daughter AAS is not at all In fact she was doing the Spelling Zoo by the Institute for Excellence in Writing earlier this year but heard her younger brother's lessons and begged to join in his class I just give her the harder words My son is wiggly and has a short attention span and my dd is calmer and more focused - it has worked well for both I did start with Level 1 with my son even though he already knew his phonograms and we just proceeded quicker through it (We did levels 1 through 4 this year) I highly recommend using their card box as it holds the cards perfectly (we had used plastic recipe boxes before and they just didn't fit as well I think the product is an excellent value it is multi-sensory has built-in review and my kids respond to it AAS also has a great forum where you can get all your questions answered Highly recommended! Tip: We used the Spalding idea of keeping a log book of their spelling words I like Wanda Sanseri's Spell to Write and Read "Learning Log" because it is organized to specifically for spelling words and phonograms are in the back This keeps all the words they have learned in one place and they can study from it

Perfect Organization!
I'm glad I went with the deluxe kit, although I just don't get the bag (it's nice quality though).

Great product
I used several different spelling programs before I tried All About Spelling. I just love it. My kids love the program. The white board letters make it interactive and fun for them. They understand what they are learning rather than just memorizing words. The kit allows you to make the most of the program.

I am hoping the box will hold all the spelling cards for every level. Also I have been borrowing the neighbor's tiles so I would like to have my own set.

I actually made my own letters for the last book, but because the last books worked so well, I wanted to add the real ones.
Martha Y on Apr 3, 2016
We tried doing traditional spelling lists, but I realized she was only memorizing words and not really learning to spell on her own. I've heard great things about this program and hope this is what we need.

Do I need aas interactive kit if I have the aar interactive kit?
A shopper on Aug 1, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The only difference in the Basic Interactive Kits for reading & spelling is the divider cards. There are 12 divider cards in the kit for spelling and only six (the green and yellow cards) in the reading. The six in the reading kit are the same green & yellow cards found in the spelling kit. So, the bottom line is that you would only need the six additional divider cards but the cards are only sold as a unit - #003928.
