Description

A puzzle and word-making game rolled into one! Each player starts with eight letter pieces, determined randomly from two die rolls. There are four types of distinctly colored pieces: big curve, little curve, big straight, and small straight. Together, these pieces can form any letter in the Roman alphabet. From their eight initial pieces, players attempt to make six unique words. Sometimes, players will find they need to add or subtract pieces to make new words. They are free to do this, but doing so may incur scoring penalties. Add pieces, and you must use each one in every word you make thereafter; subtract pieces, and you reduce your final score by the number of pieces you threw away. Scoring for words is based on how long each word is. The word “cat" is worth three points, while the word “house" is worth five. Players word's must be distinct from every other player's words, must be spelled correctly, must be a dictionary word, and must use the correct pieces for letter-building to score. After three rounds, the player with the highest score wins! A challenging game that would make an excellent supplement to spelling or vocabulary lessons. Game is for 1-4 players, and takes approximately 30 minutes to play. Game includes 1 score sheet pad, 4 pencils, 4 colored dice, 120 plastic letter pieces, 1 letter and dice tray, and instructions for play. ~ Janine
